Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My brother has advanced cancer. It was due to a lung mass, but has now involved his stomach, liver, brain and lymphatic system.and lumbar spine. He was just diagnosed in aDecember. The doctor wants to try Keytruda this coming Monday. With this amount of rapidly advancing cancer, is it even feasible to try another treatment. He is quite weak and is sleeping quite a bit. We are talking about Hospice. We are torn about what road to take.
Hi, As I had gone through your question I can understand your concern. Lung cancers have poor prognosis even if it has not too spread. In your case it seems to me it is last stage of tumor. As you said he is weak and more or less unconscious. You should consult your treatment doctor about the prognosis if it will be more then 6 months go for chemo otherwise it rests on you. As human life can't be weighed against the cost and benefit. Hope my answer will help you and you will write to us further if you feel needy. Regards Dr Muzaffar
