Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Multiple Myeloma Along With Cervical Fracture Be Treated?
My Dad was just diagnosed with multiple myeloma Sunday. He has crushed vertebras in his neck and growth coming around the side of his neck. His head is basically attached by 1 nerve. He also has growth on his ribs and can see all the holes in his bones with the CT. They sent him home with hospice care yesterday. He is 88 years old. He is on several pain killers. Do you think we are looking at closer to a month left since he was sent home with hospice?
Treatment of multiple myeloma is difficult at such advanced stages. Even if started does not help the disease very much. Certain of oral tablets may just be some helpful. So he may be managed at the hospice to keep he comfortable.
Regrading the survival, it's difficult to say from here but is poor in such cases. You can talk to your doctor as he may be telling you more good details.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
