How Can One Get Rid Of The Rabies Virus For A Dog Bite Before A Decade ?

was bitten by rabies when i was about 8 years old and since that day till now i didn t told my parents i was bitten by a dog. Just yesterday when our teacher told us that the symptoms of rabies appear after 10 years. Right now I m afraid that rabies virus is in my body, what should i do?

My dear youngman I am sorry to hear you have been bitten by dog. I strongly advise to see your Doctor to have anti rabies vaccine as soon as possible and to take care of the wound with antiseptic dressing. The incubation period of Rabies is between 3 to 8 weeks but can be 9days if some one has been biten savagely by a dog with rabies. There is long incubation period in rabies which means time arter the infection with rabies to the full devolopment of the desease and that is extremely rare and goes up to 5 yrs. I donot think you had infection with rabies when you was biten by dog first time. If you take anti rabies vaccine now you will be fine as antirabies vaccine is extremely effective.
