How Can Pain And Stiffness In The Arms Be Treated?
My wife was given a Levaquin injection for Pneumonia in January. Now she can hardly walk or lift her arms, and is struggling to go to work everyday. It seems her muscles, tendons or something are tight and very painful from a side effect of the shot. What vitamins or self treatment can she do to help get over this pain and stiffness? Thank you in advance. Stephen E. Frazier YYYY@YYYY
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It is not normal to have a stiff or painful arm after administration of an injection. It means that the injection was not administered properly and there is a chance that it may have hit a nerve.
I would advise you to get her checked by an orthopedic surgeon. If the cause is a faulty injection, then it may take a long time for her arm to gain proper functioning.
Meanwhile, she should keep doing light stretching exercises and take an over the counter painkiller like Advil to relieve pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nazma.Amman
