How Can Pain And Swelling On The Wrist Be Treated?

Injected meth into the top of my wrist. Made sure it registered and had a blood flashback and everything. I d like to say I m sure I didn t miss but it s 2 days later now and it s swollen up and quite painful. I went almost at least 24 hours before any pain or anything at all developed. As 99% of others say would like to avoid the E.R. but if there is no other choice obviously I will go immediately. Thank you in advance for any light you can shed on my dilemma.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

By your history and description, possibility of thrombophlebitis is more likely. It is infection and inflammation of vein in which you injected Meth. It is surgical emergency where debridement should be done.
This is done to prevent spread of infection. So better to consult emergency room and start treatment. Along with debridement, you need painkiller, anti inflammatory drugs. Better not to take Intravenous abusive drugs again.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
