How Can Pain And Tingling Sensation In The Lower Leg Be Treated?

I went over on my ankle last Saturday and fell down stairs in high heel shoes. I went to a and e on Monday and my foot was X-ray. I applied ice for the first 4 days and the bruising and swelling has been reduced. I have rested and elevated my leg as instructed and continued to rotate my foot and keep moving it. A week on I cannot put my full weight on my leg. I am getting pins and needles right up my leg to my knee and experiencing a great deal of pain in both my ankle and lower leg. Should I go back to dr? Was simply given a tubi grip bandage.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, yes you should get back the medical help and preferably an orthopedic surgeon review and repeat X-ray as well. The signs also suggest nerve involvement so must also be ruled out. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be used. If pain is severe more potent analgesics like Tramadol or Gabapentin may also be needed. Avoiding putting too much weight and strenuous activities at all.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
