How Can Pain Below The Rib Cage Be Treated?

I feel like I ve been punched in my gut. It hurts real bad right at the top of my stomach right beneath my rib cage. Its not gall bladder issues as mine has been removed. Two days ago I was vomiting and had severe headache after being up for 40 hours. No more headache and vomiting but this pain is unreal! Its not gas. What can I do to make it stop?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think this is possibly caused by gastritis or inflammation of the stomach lining.
You may need to use antiacids such Pepto-Bismol or maalox. Also you can use Ppi such omeprazole to stop acid secretion.
Be careful on keeping a low acidity diet without too much of fruit juices and sauce.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
