Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to hematoma with the lateral muscle of leg spasm or injury. Until examination is done it is difficult to say how serious it is.

Hematoma may subside within a period of few weeks. but if you're not able to lift your leg means consult your orthopedician he will examine and take X-ray of hip joint then treat you accordingly.

Use cold compression, use painkiller medication, avoid smoking.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
