How Can Pain In The Wrist Be Treated?

I think my right wrist may be suffering Carpal Tunnel problems. It kept me awake most all last night. I have an apt with a neurologist in two weeks. What can I do to reduce the pain so I can sleep at night? I do better in the day time. Suspect it may be related to a bad fall I had last Sept. I am a type II 85 yr old male diabetic.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern.
Some advices that I can give to you are :
1)Stop activities that cause numbness and pain. Rest your wrist longer between activities.
2)Ice your wrist for 10 to 15 minutes 1 or 2 times an hour.
3)Try taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs to relieve pain and reduce swelling.
4)Wear a wrist splint at night. This takes pressure off your median nerve.
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks!
