Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Painful Arthritis In The Hands Be Treated?
I have arthritis in both hands that causes pain. However, I also have severe pain in what feels like the nerves in my hands, shooting out my fingers. Sometimes my hands itch abnormally. My doctor says it s just arthritis, but it feels like more of a nerve problem.
Thanks for your questions. Painful arthritis in both hands needs to be investigated if it persists. For more than 6 weeks for RA factor, anti CCP, CRP and uric acid. If it is less than 6 weeks duration or if you have had a recent viral infection then symptomatic treatment with analgesics or short course of steroids will help.
Consult your family doctor and get checked.
Hope this helps.
Take care
