How Can Painful Arthritis In The Thumbs Be Treated?
I have arthritis in my thumbs with some nodules but my hands have been giving me a significant amount of pain for weeks and for months now I wake up at night and they are completely numb, and everymorning I wake up they are numb. I ve had x-rays and EMG s and do not have carpal tunnel. I am a nurse and phlebotomist so I need them and am worried since the symptoms are progressing and painful.
Dear patient what is your age?arthritis is only in thumbs or other fingers also ? if arthritis is only involving thumb base joints and on both sides with age over 45 it may be degenerative osteoarthritis. osteoarthritis is age related degenerative process an dainty affects knee , hip and 1st carpometacarpal joint. first treatment is hot water fomenting next is intraarticular steroid injection and then if not relieved surgery. Diagnosis has to be confirmed by digital xray of involved hand anteroposterior and oblique views. thanks.
