How Can Painful Nodules Around A Vaccination Shot Site Be Treated?
I have received both a flu and pneumo vaccine in the last 6 months. Also a torodol injection IM in the last 6 months. I have had had painful nodules at those sites since. As well as shoulder, upper arm pain that at times goes to my elbow, forearm and wrist. I am diabetic type 2 and have fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis as well. Could the injections have caused the nodules. I take diclofenac orally twice daily for the arthritis. My MD has me using diiclofenac topical gel 4 times daily on my arm and shoulder. We discussed steroids as a possible intervention, but they would play havoc with my glucose levels. Question is, could these nodules be granulomas and how can they be treated?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The modules might be small abscesses.
Diabetic patients are more prone to develop these kind of micro abscess. You can start a short course of antibiotics like Ampiclox for five to seven days.
If abscess persist despite antibiotics, it has to be drained under aseptic precautions.
Consult a surgeon for the same.
Hope I have answered your query.
