Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Persistent Cough And Difficulty In Swallowing Be Treated?
I have a persistent cough. I have been on antibiotics twice. A thousand milligrams of amoxicillin in April. Then on a thousand milligrams of cypro in September. I cough up a liquidity yellow mucus. It happens when I have been laying g down and get up. This stuff can take my brother a the away. I have to keep swallowing like if I was vomiting.
Hi, Sorry to know your condition and I can also understand your concern. If the color of mucus is yellow then most probably there is a bacterial infection. So even this time you will need an appropriate antibiotic but I am not sure if plain amoxycillin will help this time. I would have prescribed a combination of clavulanic acid and amoxycillin which will certainly help. So my suggestion is consult your primary care physician for a prescription. I hope my answer helps. Please feel free to ask another question. Thanks, Dr.Prabhas Verma
