How Can Persistent Cough And Sinusitis Be Treated?

I have a persistent cough. I had a sinus infection about 6 weeks ago but the cough remains. I have had a similar cough in the past and my doctor diagnosed it as acid reflux. Could the acid reflux have come back and the cough is not related to the sinus infection?

Hello,

The symptoms you mentioned in query seems to be due to severe upper respiratory tract infection. Do warm saline gargles with pinch of salt water. Take expectorants. Steam inhalation is very effective for you. Avoid sharp and spicy food and take light meal.

I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist without any delay. The doctor may order blood test, throat swab test and get an x ray of the chest. The doctor may also prescribe antibiotics (Amoxicillin or Penicillin) at least for 10 days along with decongestants and mucolytic agents.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
