How Can Post Nasal Discharge Be Treated?
I have chronic drainage in the back of my throat especially in the evenings and while i am sleeping. I have noticed an increase in this over the last few months. In the mornings I feel like I have congestion in my throat that I need to cough out but nothing happens. I have also been loosing my voice if I am talking on the phone or to some one to long. I am not sick I take mucinex every night and I still have these symptoms. Any thoughts?

Drainage down the throat also known as Post nasal drip can occur due to causes like Sinusitis, Upper Respiratory tract infection, acid reflux, allergies etcetera.
I would suggest you consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like PNS View x-ray, nasal endoscopy, upper G.I Endoscopy etcetera can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly.
In case of infection, you can be advised to take a course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkiller, decongestants oral as well as a nasal spray, antiallergic, and mucolytics.
As of now, you can take anti allergic like Levocetirizine, Mucolytics like Ambroxol. If it is due to acid reflux antacids and proton pump inhibitors like Omeprazole and diet modifications can be advised.
In case of allergies, take anti-allergic and preventing exposure to the allergen can be advised. Do warm saline gargles and steam inhalations. Limit exposure to dust, avoid chilled foods and sip on warm water.
