How Can Pulled Muscle On The Upper Back Be Treated?
Hi my name is William foster and im a iron-worker. a week ago today i had a 40 lb piece of steel fall 6ft and landed on my spin/upper neck area. i was wearing a 5point harness which has back and shoulder support, the steel landed on my harness which to me spread out the force over a 3x5 inch area instead of just one spot. i immediately took off the harness and was able to touch my toes and reach my arms above my head. i figured if i could do that then it wasnt a serious injury and would just be sore for a few days. i continued to work last week instead of taking it off, by thursday i felt i pulled a muscle in my upper back right next to my spine, and ive been out of work ever since, what are the possible outcomes from having blunt force trama to the spine?
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM It could jut be a muscle tear or sprain.Fracture is less likely but should as well be eliminated with an X-ray of the spine.I will suggest you take a rest, get anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen, a myorelaxant like miorel. If pain too intense, you may add heat/cold packs to the above drugs. Then consult the Doctor to examine the spot for a muscle tear or any related injury. Hope my answer will help you Best regards
