How Can Recurrent Cough Be Treated?

I had the flu 3 weeks ago. My symptoms had all gone away. I have developed the cough again. It is coming from my chest but not producing any phlegm. I have had it for 4 days now and it is bothersome. It gets worse at night. At what point do I see a doctor, or do I just ride it out with over the counter meds? I have been taking Mucinex DM.

Hello,

A recurrent cough for more than two weeks, have to be definitely investigated. Especially for tuberculosis kind of infection can happen. Necessary sputum culture Acid- Fast Bacilli (AFB) should be done to rule out the diagnosis. Just don't take expectorant. Go to the nearest clinician get examined and get prescription for antibiotics if the flu is still persisting.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
