Hi,

Renal failure patients are prone for hypocalcemia why because Vitamin D hydroxylation takes place by kidney. But in kidney failure patients it may lead to hypocalcemia and osteoporosis. Bisphosphonates must be carefully administered in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients.

Despite this, Bisphosphonates can safely be used in all CKD stages, including dialysis and kidney transplant. So dose of administration may vary depending upon the stage of CKD. Please consult your nephrologist/physician they will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
