How Can Seizures After Having Stents Implanted Be Treated?
I have a brother-in-law in the hospital now that has started having seizures after a stent was put in. Can this possibly cause a seizure? He has no history of seizures and is now on a respiratory. What type of questions can I ask the doctor about this and maybe we can go from there. Thanks!
Hello and Thanks for posting your query on Healthcaremagic.
Hi, I had gone through the problem and carefully looked into the details mentioned. If I mean it as a cardiac stent then seizures happen due to stroke (post stroke seizures) which can at times seen before or during or after heart attack. Rarely it can be a sequelae of hypoxic damage to the brain which can happen in post cardiac arrest status and may be on a respirator. You can discuss with your Cardiologist for an opinion from Neurologist to know the cause of seizures. If required CT or an MRI be done to know the cause of seizures.
Wish you brother-in-law a good health. I hope this helps you. If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
Sincerely,
Dr. Shiva Kumar R. Consultant Neurologist & Epileptologist Bangalore, India.
