Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am currently being weaned off of using Tramadol for chronic back pain. I have 2 crushed discs T4 T5, What kind of over the counter medicine can I take to relieve the pain. I also have headaches 24/7 which are not as intense since I have been removing tramadol. They prescribed Butrans patch, but that is much stronger than the tramadol and just as addicting.
I think for crushed discs the best method of treatment would be surgery and replacement of the discs. Short of that, medically speaking, in addition to Tramadol, you can try:
1. A lumbar belt appropriately sized to the level. This will support the back and reduce the pain.
2. Calcium and Vitamin D supplementation is very helpful.
3. Deca-Durabolin injections can afford a lot of relief.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible.
I would like to see the scan before further suggestions can be recommended.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
