How Can Severe Backache Be Treated?

I have severe back pain and I have used every otc medicine there is, even the topical medicines. I was recently in the hospital and they gave me Valium for my muscle spasms and dilaudid for my pain! I also suffer with anxiety therefore I was given a small amount of Ativan per my request. My question is; is Valium a muscle relaxer? It helped tremendously with my back issues but I ve always thought is was an anxiety medication! Currently I have been looking for months to find a family doctor for my family of five, My question is how am I supposed to get a prescription for Valium and flexril and Ativan, without a primary care physician?

I can understand your concern.
No, Valium is not muscle relaxant. It is diazepam. It is benzodiazepine group of drug effective for insomnia, anxiety, psychosis etc.
If your back issue is resolved by Valium then cause for back issue is stress and anxiety.
So better to consult psychiatrist and get done counselling sessions.
Try to identify stressor in your life and start working on its solution.
Anxiolytic drugs like Ativan, Valium etc are prescribed drugs and hence prescription is needed.
Avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm.
