How Can Severe Headache And Sore Throat Be Treated?

I am a 65 year old African American female. I have a throbbing heachache for about 5 days with a very sore throat with enlarged glands. The sore throat get much worse as the evening draws near. I found little relief with some sinus meds. I checked my blood pressure and it is 117/73.

Hi,



The symptoms are highly suggestive of a possible pharyngitis with sinusitis. This will explain the symptoms that you have. I would recommend testing an X-ray, PNS, water view and throat swab culture.



The treatment would include the following:

1. Steam inhalation 4 times daily

2. Warm saline gargles 4 times daily

3. Tab Paracetamol for headache and possible fever.

4. Plenty of fluids.



You may need an antibiotic cover. This will, however depend on the report of throat swab culture.
