How Can Severe Itching On The Arms Be Treated?

I have been suffering with severe itching on my right arm for around 8 years now. It comes in the Fall/Winter and sometime in the Spring. It keeps me awake a lot through the night and I itch until I bleed and sometime bruise. Doctor says it is probably dry skin. I have a steroid cream and I take Bendryl before bed. It used to help but not anymore. I am 60 and went thru menopause at age 44. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Well it can be probably dry skin that has become thin and sensitive due to continuous scratching and irritation and inflammation. So my suggestion is to start applying petroleum jelly over it as soon as it gets dry throughout the day and not not let it stay dry and irritated.

You can also apply coconut oil over it. Drink plenty of water. At night also better avoid steroid ointments and use Caladryl ointment or petroleum jelly to keep skin soothed and lubricated. If Benadryl is not working take Levocetrizine or allegra.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
