How Can Severe Pain After Total Hip Replacement Be Treated?

I just stopped taking pain meds from post op surgery on june 8th last month. I had a total hip replacement. I ve was on tramadol for 5 years for chronic pain then found out I was bone on bone in my left hip needing the surgery which was causing my pain. I was put on morphine and delated after surgery and then percocet then Norton 10s, until Thursday. I m done detoxing but I don t feel myself, no energy blah, nervous and definitely thinking about using a pain pill again. I m done with pain meds I ve never been through this before I looked up what s going on and I want to get vivitrol or something that will help ease what I m temporarily experience today so I can get through till tomorrow

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello

I understand your concern.

The primary thing to do in cases of hip replacement surgery is physiotherapy. It might take a bit longer to run physiotherapy until totally recovered.

Plus, take magnesium supplement to help alleviate your muscle spasms causing you pain.

Discuss this further with physiotherapist.
All the best.
