How Can Severe Pain Due To Dystonia Be Treated?

I am a 61 y/o white female that has been diagnosed with Sjogrens, Fibromyalgia, Raynauds, Torticollitis, Dystonia, Dysphagia, and multiple other myalgias. I have had 3 rounds of Botox in the neck, shoulders, and back of the head in the past 10 months with very little relief. I have also had ACDF , C 3-6 in 2008. At that time multiple bone spurs were removed as well. I now have a titanium plate and 10 screws in my neck. These are still intact per MRI last year. My worst problem is that I have severe pain, but more than that, the dystonia, ( head pulls to the right), and dysphagia are getting worse almost daily. I have tried OT/ST that seems to worsen my problem. My fear is that I am not going to be able to chew or swallow in a very short time. I would like to know if you know of ANY help for me. I take one Soma at bedtime and 1mg of Clonazeam at HS just to be able to lay my head down for a while. NSAIDS are very hard on my stomach. Is there any help out there for me? Thank you, Jennifer Smiley

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* Severe pain of dystonia with fibromyalgia condition, would require strong analgesic which is hard for your stomach.
* Can try tramadol hydrochloride with omeprazole for best relief or else an injection of analgesic, interventional pain management specialist can look into best of this matter.
* Meditations and relaxation techniques present long term relief with the due time period and consistent exercises.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
