Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
An adult family member has been diagnosed with shingles in and around his eye. He also has been experiencing a clouding in that eye affecting his vision. What, if anything, can be done? Can it spread to his other eye? Could it possibly cause blindness? Could a corneal transplant restore his vision? Please give me whatever info you can. Thank you so much.

How Can Shingles Around The Eyes Be Treated?
Hello, Your symptoms seem to be related to ocular shingles. In general, shingles is a disease that after it has run its course will slowly disappear by itself. I recommend using antiviral medication such as Acyclovir daily. I also recommend using the anti-inflammatory medication in case of pain. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
