How Can Shingles Be Treated?

Hi, my husband was currently diagnosed with shingles. It is on his left buttock and now has few spots on his mouth. My question is can it go into his mouth, how can I stop this and should he consult dr. Again. Also his nose and right eye have redness starting.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Shingles infection may spread to face(around eyes and nose), and in mouth. Is he taking antiviral medication for this?

-He should use Antivirals(Acyclovir) medication, start as soon as possible and do not interrupt without consulting your doctor.
-Apply ice packs locally to reduce inflammation.
-Take painkillers (Ibuprofen three times daily).
-Using soothing mouth rinses with Chlorhexidine.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Suela Gjata,
