How Can Shoulder Pain Along With Heartburn Be Treated?
I have severe heartburn pain in the center of chest that causes extreme back and shoulder pain that lasts about 30 minutes. I have high blood pressure and take medication that I thought might cause it. The first time it happened I was worried about a heart attack ekg was fine and heart catheter showed no blockage. Possible small arteries to heart. It happens in morning after I take medication or eat breakfast about twice a week. My doctor said take nexium and zantac rwice a day but so far not working. it is extreme pain
Because the tablets that help with heartburn are not helping you will need to talk again with your doctor. In this case possibly having an endoscopic examination of the stomach might be helpful to rule out problems with the stomach or diagnose them and treat properly.
On the other hand there are other heart problems that can cause pain that may not be seen in ECG or the heart catheter. You might need to have a heart ultrasound and possibly chest xray and sometimes CT scan to rule out problems with the aorta (the vessel that comes out of the heart).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General & Family Physician
