What Causes Heartburn And Shoulder Pain After Taking Clindamycin?
Ive been taking an antibiotic for a tooth infection. I have developed what I think is heartburn. But Ive been having pain in between my shoulder blades when my heartburn acts up. Is this normal? Im worried it isnt a possible heart attack sympton. The antibiotic is Clindamycin
As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from antibiotic induced hyperacidity leading to acid reflux as Clindamycin is an antibiotic and at times intake of antibiotics can cause digestive disturbances leading to acid reflux. It causes heartburn and pain in shoulder blades can be radiating pain. It is however temporary and resolves as the antibiotic intake is stopped. You can consult your treating physician if the symptoms are severe. As of now, till you are on medication you should take empty stomach Pantoprazole or Omeprazole. Take antacids before meals. Avoid spicy and acidic foods. Take more of yoghurt in diet.
Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks and regards, Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora
