Why are medicines like this given. She went in to the hospital with a small intestinal blockage and came home with all these problems. I want to take her of it.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Amiodarone is an anti arrhythmic agent, according to Vaughan William classification, it is a class III drug.

As the consultant decides the type of molecule depending upon the clinical presentation, you must discuss it's alternative with your treating cardiologist only for further guidelines.

Wish her fine recovery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
