Dear HCM user
You seem to be suffering from
chronic insomnia but whats worrisome is you are taking high dosages of benzodiazepines that can cause dependence and rebound insomnia as well as
daytime sleepiness and accidents. Please don't self treat yourself as this can be dangerous. It can cause respiratory
depression, sedation even
coma. Barbiturates are to be completely avoided. First you need to taper and stop
valium. There are much better and less dependence propensity treatments available for insomnia but should be taken only under supervision and for prescribed duration. Also I will advice you start practticing these simple steps of
sleep hygiene and you may be able to reduce ongoing medication. It includes avoid napping during the day, avoid stimulants such as caffeine,
nicotine, and alcohol too close to bedtime, exercising in morning, staying away from large meals close to bedtime, establishing a regular relaxing bedtime routine like reading, calm music. Not bringing your problems to bed, associating your bed with sleep by using it just for that and not for watching TV, laptop, mobile, sleeping and waking up at fixed timings.
Hope this will help you sleep better without medicines. Please donot self treat as this may harm you.
