How Can Slipped Disc Pain With Nerve Involvement Be Treated Non Surgically?

Hi I am suffering from Back pain from last 15 days and visiting Manipal hospital. X-ray and MRI scan has been done. The problem identified is a slip disc between L2 and L3, disc is touching nerve and thus causing pain. I am on bed rest from last 12 days and doctors has advised to go for physiotherapy for 10-15 days and back care for 15 days and will see after a month. If the problem still remain then go for a surgery/operation. Can't this be cured without going for a surgery or operation. Kindly guide.
