Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a special needs student mildly mentally handicapped, who has been steadily declining in ability. Two years ago he could read single syllable words (consonant vowel consonant) now he cannot sound out words. He could add double digit without regrouping, now he cannot identify numbers. He also appears to have vision issues, rubbing his eyes after a short time of focusing. Are there any neurological disorders, that this could be?
The decline in metal capability is a sign of degenerative disorders. There are a number of neurological degenerative disorders in which our brain tissue may be getting damaged.
Few of them. May be correctable though many or not. So he surely needs a neurologist opinion.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
