How Can Squamous Cell Carcinoma On The Cheeks Be Treated?

I have been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma and it is located on my cheek below my eye. I am 27 years old. So of course the dermintologist that diagnosed it is going to take it out and dig deep enough to final all margins. My question is what about the hole my face will be scared with? Is there such a person as a surgeon who is also concerned with the physical looking outcome to this treatment. I live on Hilton Head Island in SC and need to know WHO is the best to go to for me to have this removed and have it heal without a compromise to my skin appearance.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

In cancer-like condition, the total removal of cancerous tissue with some normal tissue is better because if any part of it remains there it may spread and further damage occurs.

So don't worry about it, it can be taken care by the plastic surgeon once the cancer removal is successful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhadresh Lakhani
