my grandson of 12 yrs has the belly flu. The er doctor said this Saturday Feb. 11,2017. Yesterday he stayed home but around 4 p.m. was outside shotting hoops by himself. He stayed home today also. Can he go play and be sick? Back in my day Mom keep me inside.

Hello,

If the child has stomach flu it is best he stays at home for 2 main reason. One is that he takes his time to rest and recover, this will help his body fight the virus better and earlier. The other reason is to prevent the virus from being spread to others. Being at home reduces contact with other people and the risk to contaminate and infect them.
