How Can Strep Throat Be Treated?

I have a 7 year-old granddaughter with a very low growth rate. she was born with a heartd that holes sealed with surgery. She s barely three feet tall and has gained only two pounds per year the last two years. Currently she has strep throat and a very low white cell count after a recent blood draw. What are the likely causes of this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The heart congenital disease is a cause of low growth rate.
The low immunity also contributes to strep throat.
She should be treated with penicillin or cephalosporine group.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
