How Can Sun Burn On The Body Be Treated?

I have a sunburn and it’s bad and my skin is swelled a bit. And in some spots is a purplish color. I’m fair skinned and on vacation I got it yesterday and feels better after applying aloe but I’m scared it’s sun poisoning which I’ve never had but I’m very worried.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Sunscreen is the best creams you can use for this condition to avoid sunburn. But since you are already burnt off then using sunscreen doesn't work.

For that, you need to take a lot of plan of action to remove the tan like putting de-tan cream to the parts where exposed and try to use such things often and get all the tan removed then you start on putting sunscreen in order to protect yourself from the sun. SPF 35 and above is all good.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
