How Can Swelling And Bruising On The Toe Be Treated?

My 4 year old jammed his toe bad opening a door and it swelled up and bruised over the course of 2 days. The tip of his toe and nail turned white and then while he was running the tip of his toe popped open. There was blood and pus but now it just slowly oozes. I have kept it clean, put neosporin on it, and have kept it wrapped and taped to the toe next to it to stabilize it. Should I be concerned that the whole tip of his toe is popped open? Is there anything else I can do or should be doing for it?

Hello,

If only popped and opened nail with intact nail bed need removal of the nail without disturbing nail bed. If nail bed injured need to repair of the nail bed. Small injuries with subungual hematomas may won't need any further treatment unless hematoma causes infection. Please consult your surgeon he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
