How Can Swelling In The Pelvic Area While On Lasix Be Treated?

My husband is on Lasix for CHF. He has a great deal of fluid in the pelvic area above his penis. He has no pain but some difficulty urinating because of the swelling. Has had a back ache for several days which is better today. We see a doctor on Friday for a follow up after being hospitalized for CHF. What should I do?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I think that he is not able to pass urine and empty bladder completely as he is having pain while passing urine and so he has a palpable bladder above penis. So swelling visible over his penis is nothing but bladder. He needs urgent catheterisation and opinion of an urologist.Hope my answer is helpful to you.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
