Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Surgery on a ball of foot takes time for proper healing and reduction of swelling and pain. This is because the foot is the most dependent part of the body and one uses to stand and work, sit and so. Once can not lye down all the time with the affected foot elevated above the heart level. Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: Certainly it is the best idea to see the operating Surgeon to review the situation. Take an anti-inflammatory with a painkiller properties. Avoid long standing and sitting. Elevate the foot above the heart level when lying down, helps a lot to reduce the swelling and hence pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
