How Can The Chances Of Down Syndrome Be Decreased?
My partner is 12 weeks 1 day with twins and the Nuchal translucency thickness on both of the fetus were 8.6 and 9.8mm respectively, she is 39 years old and i am a little worried. we have been referred to a specialist and and have been told there is a 1 in 2 chance of both having down syndrome is there any options of increasing those odds?
Hi, thanks for asking. I can understand your concerns. Down's syndrome is cause by trisomy of 21st chromosome. It is determined at the time of fertilization itself. So at 12 weeks there is no way of decreasing the chances that they may have Down's syndrome. I hope I have helped you. Thank you.
