How Can The Risk Of Fainting After A Tooth Extraction Be Avoided?

My son had a tooth extraction and fainted a few minutes after the procedure. Is there anything that can be done to prevent this from happening again in future? He still needs to extract the first molar before he can continue with orthodontic treatment.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand..

As per your complain fainting after tooth extraction can occur due to sudden fall of blood pressure or Orthostatic Hypotension that can occur as soon as he gets up from the dental chair post extraction..
I would suggest you that he should not get up from the chair immediately after extraction..
His feet can be elevated for a few minutes before he gets up from chair..
Fluid administration can help..
If the blood pressure falls to a considerable level certain blood vessel constricting drugs like Fludrocortisone can be given..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
