Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a tooth infection and my dentist prescribed NarcoHYDROcodone-ACETaminoph 7.5-325. I took one at 12:30 am but my pain in not going away. At 2 am I took also IBUprofent 800mg and still I am in pain. On top of it my blood pressure went up to 148/100. Does Narco raised blood pressure? Can I increase the dose so the pain goes away? Or do I need to switch to another paint medication?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Many times when there is a severe infection in tooth or due to infection there is abscess formation then only medication will not resolve the symptoms. Also, taking painkillers will temporarily reduce pain and as soon as the effect of painkillers reduces pain begin to recur. Blood pressure can raise due to medication while at times anxiety and pain can increase blood pressure.
So my suggestion is to consult an emergency room and get evaluated so that they can advise you higher painkillers like Tramadol or Ketorolac along with antibiotics like Augmentin. Also, you should consult a dentist and get evaluated. Get an x-ray done. If tooth can be saved then root canal treatment can be done. If tooth is grossly damaged then extraction is advisable.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
