Hi. I have symptoms of Trigger Toe and am having difficulty finding information about the surgery to treat it. Primarily I want to know about recovery from the surgery- how long it takes and what limitations and pain are associate with it (eg, can one drive, walk).

Hi,

Surgery is usually considered if trigger toe is severe. muscle (flexor hallucis longus muscle that cause bending movement of great toe) sheath, that is causing the difficulty in bending (flexing) the great toe.

It may take about 4-6 months for the swelling, stiffness to subsided and to completely recover from the surgery.

But doctors usually recommend walking, stretching exercises, physiotherapy within a few days of surgery for good recovery of the muscle.

After complete recovery, one can go back to regular daily schedule without limitations to drive, walk, etc.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
