Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son has protitus and colitis. currently going through a flare. He is seriously considering surgery to remove rectum and large colon. He has tried Humira for 14 weeks, it did not work. He then was given remicade and that didn t work. Now he has been on Entyvio since December ( 4 infusions to date ) and things are going down hill. Just curious if Budesone may be causing things to get worse than better. He has been taking budesone ( 8 months) shortly after started Humira.

How Can Ulcerative Proctitis Be Treated?
Hi, Budesonide is a steroid drug and steroids are the mainstays of ulcerative colitis treatment. You can consult a gastroenterologist for further treatment. Surgery is the last resort and generally, consider only when all the medical management fails. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
