How Can Vaginal Bleeding Be Stopped?

Hello I and my girlfriend had sex about 3 days after she finished her period then she used 1 tablet or postinor 2 within 2 hours after the sex and took the second tablet 12 hours later. Approximately 4 days after, she noticed blood coming out of her vaginal, it started in a small quantity then it got heavier the second day and her stomach is getting bigger as well. Today is the third day and the vaginal bleeding is still happening. Please what s going on? Is it possible for her to be pregnant? What can she do to stop the bleeding?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

When bleeding occurs for longer period than it is usually as in your case then there are few possible causes and most common is a hormone imbalance. PCOS is one of the causes of hormonal imbalance.

While some causes may be easy to treat, others can indicate a serious underlying condition. Whether you notice spotting or heavier bleeding between 2 periods, it’s important to see your doctor for testing, diagnosis, and treatment options.

Other potential causes of bleeding between periods include a growth in the uterus or cervix, stress, change in medicines, miscarriage, and vaginal dryness. Your doctor will also likely order a physical exam, including a pelvic exam.

Diagnostic tests can help your doctor find the cause of the bleeding. Your doctor may draw blood to check hormone levels. Then right treatment can be recommened.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein
