Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I took an ipill after unprotected sex. Ot lead to induced peeiods and it was very heavy. And now my periods are over but I have extremely dry skin and itchiness on my face. The itching is so bad that its not letting me sleep or do anything else. Also I have extreme vaginal dryness and itching. What should I do?
Vaginal dryness is common and usually result of lack of estrogens but some other less common causes may be present.
The most common treatment for vaginal dryness due to low estrogen levels is topical estrogen therapy.
In order to keep the vagina more lubricated, try using a vaginal moisturizer (Replens). You use a disposable applicator such as Vagifem to insert a tablet into your vagina once a day for the first two weeks of treatment.
Avoid using douches, bubble baths, scented soaps, and lotions around the sensitive vaginal area. These products can worsen dryness.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
