How Can Wounds On The Legs Be Treated?

my husband has open wounds on his legs that are not healing. this has been going on since October. He runs fevers almost every day - sometimes they are 103. So far they cannot figure out why his legs wont heal or why the fevers. he is not diabetic. he has rumatoid arthritis and periferal vascular issues in his legs. he had a bypass put in the right leg and a stint in the left. his left leg hurts all the time where the wound is and it stings a lot. mayo can t get him in until sept 19th.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Chronic wounds like these could be due to vasculitis or Pyoderma Gangrenosum. Specific blood investigations, biopsy from the involved skin for histopathology examination will diagnose the condition. Then specific treatment can be started. However even then these lesions do tale a long time to heal. It is good that he is not a Diabetic, since that would have still delayed wound healing.
