Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Should I go to work with Shingles? I don t think there is anyone pregnant at work or who hasn t had Chicken Pox. I will keep them covered because I am females and it is on my back and a few on my stomach. I cannot afford to miss work if I don t have to. I am taking the anti viral Valtrex which I got on yesterday as soon as I realized what it might be. My doctor told me I am contagious to everyone with contact. How can I be contagious to people who have had Chicken Pox or people who have had Chicken Pox and Shingles? I guess it is because they can get Chicken Pox again from me. cic
It is contagious if a person comes into contact with the lesions (if they are open or oozing). If there is no contact then transmission of the virus cannot occur.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
