How Do I Bring My Sugar Level Down When On Metformin?
I have type 2 diabetes and my sugar levels over the past two weeks just wont go down it just sits between 300-400 each time I test my sugar. I take metformin morning and night but its not getting the levels down. I have been careful in what I have been eating and not sure whats going on

Hi and welcome to HCM. Your blood sugar is not coming under control with metformin alone. You may need a drug combination. You take Tab GLUCONORM G (Glimipride 1 mg and metformin 500 mg) 1 tablet in morning instead of metformin alone and continue metformin in night as usual. After 1 week or 2 weeks check your blood sugar, its better to check your FBS and PPBS in a lab rather then checking in glucometer.
Physical activity is another important part of your diabetes. Regular physical activity also improves your body's response to insulin. plan for every meal to have the right mix of starches, fruits and vegetables, proteins, and fats. It's especially important to eat about the same amount of carbohydrates at each meal and snack because they have a big effect on blood sugar levels.
If your blood sugar levels wont come down then consult a diabetologist for further advice.

your blood sugar is really very high and you are also careful about your diet so your Metformin is not sufficient to control your of sugar although Metformin is best initial drug but your requirement may have been increased and you might need second line medicines. I would advise you to consult your physician who may add second line drug for better control
